It is that time of the year again! The temperatures are dropping, the snow is flying, and it is time to start decorating for the holiday season. We all like to have our house looking colorful and festive, but do not think about the safety concerns that come along with it. Here are some tips to protect your family and home this year:
- Inspect all electrical decorations for damage before use.
- Do not overload electrical outlets.
- Never connect more than three strings of incandescent lights.
- Water your tree daily.
- Keep combustible decorations at least three feet away from heat sources.
- Protect cords from damage.
- Check decorations for certification label.
- Stay in the kitchen when something is cooking.
- Turn off, unplug, and extinguish all decorations when going to sleep or leaving the house.
Have a safe and wonderful holiday!
