Spring Flooding

3/1/2019 (Permalink)

As the snow melts throughout West Michigan and rivers begin to rise, homeowners begin to experience flooding. Many residents who live along rivers, lakes, or areas with a high water table may experience ground water start to seep through cracks within their foundation. If you live in an area prone to flooding, be sure to check your home for areas where water could enter.

A great way to prevent basement flooding in areas with a high water table is to install a sump pump. A sump pump is used to remove water that has accumulated in a water-collecting sump basin. The pump will send the water away from the house to any place where it is no longer problematic. Since sump pumps are typically hardwired into a home's electrical system, it is important to ensure that it has a battery backup should your home lose power.
